Tuesday 4th July

To Cutbank, 78 miles.

Olivia heads down to East Glacier and myself and Owen and a Mother and son I met briefly yesterday afternoon head east. Although over the continental divide, the water on the East side takes two courses: some goes South and I think eventually enters the Mississippi and some goes North and enters Hudson bay. So another climb, but a beautiful one, to get over the Hudson Bay divide. Out of the national park there is little traffic and Duck Lake road rolled gradually up and round giving views of the mountains.
Travelling through  the Blackfeet Indian reservation land. It is sad to see the dilapidation on the outskirts of the largely Indian town of Browning. Plus I am not to keen on the Burger bars and grills. Friendly people though.
I stopped for my breakfast at a place frequented by locals.Four old boys were playing cards

Then I am out of the mountains and into prarie land. Not a lot open in Cutbank on the 4th of July. Tried the RV park but no shade and very hot. I am also hot. I want a shower and have earned a motel. Are here is one I found very cheap... great! -that is until I get in the room; it smells of smoke and the SHEETS ARE NOT CLEAN... plus the door lock is broken. I look outside at the clientele staying here and I think NO.
I get my money back with no problem. And here I am in a proper motel, given a nice room by the Indian owner who could not have been more caring.  I have been very close to Canada but not over the border.
