Day 2 Monday 5th June

We started the day in the correct USA fashion by eating the remains of last nights meal (given to us in take away carton and kept in the fridge overnight). Then stocked up on supplies of food, plus gas for the stove, which we could not use as we forgot to buy matches.
Then it was a cycle up to Rattlesnake lake to get onto the John Wayne trail in the iron horse state park. A gravel route following an old railway line. The views of the Cascade mountains which still have snow on them was spectacular. We had to take our bikes through the two and half mile Snoqualmie tunnel, I walked mine most of the way. 1. because water dripped through the roof making the surface slippery. 2. because I found that I could not keep my balance well on the bike in that setting. 3. I value my limbs and did not want to fall of and break them.
We camped for the night at a hiker camp site, the only people there. Not surprising as it is a long way from a public road. Had a good meal but missed boiling water for tea. Enjoyed the mini bottle of proseco I had in my bag for just such an occasion Thank you Sue Fisher.
